Sunday, the 3rd, Uncle Wes and Aunt Sarah came up and we had a BBQ at the ranch. We are glad for all the visiting time we can get before they move to Miami. After the BBQ we put the kids in pajamas and headed out to stake out our firework watching spot.
The kids enjoyed popcorn in the back of Uncle Wes' truck while we waited for it to get dark.
Wes wanted to see just how tall the wild oats were on the side of the road. They were at least 6ft tall! Thanks to a very wet spring we have extremely tall wild oats everywhere.
Finally it was dark enough and the show started. Unfortunately the show had to stop twice to put out small spot fires on the dam when some of the embers landed in the grass. Thankfully fire engines were stationed at the dam just for that purpose and quickly put the fires out. The two little dots of light below the fireworks are the second round of fires.
On the actual 4th of July we went to Aunt Kathryn's for a swim and BBQ. The kids love riding on the teeter totter and running all around.
Nothing tops off a day of swiming and BBQ like ice cream cones.
