Apples

Ally had been wanting to go check the apples in our orchard for a while.  After noticing quite a few of our Gravenstein apples turning pink I decided it was time to head out to the orchard.

Ally and Eva were both great helpers, they each had their own tub to fill and had fun gathering the apples I dropped.  Of course you can't pick apples without doing a little taste testing.  Gravenstein apples are my very favorite.  They don't last long and you rarely can find them in a grocery store.  I look forward to their sweet tangy flavor every year.

Colton sat in his stroller while we picked.  He was not particularly happy to be confined to his stroller and he was even more upset that I was ignoring him.  He was tired and ready for a nap, giving him an apple to gnaw on helped a little.

We tried to beat the heat by heading out in the morning but soon both girls were hot and thirsty.

Water is always more refreshing right out of the faucet.

These girls worked hard and were proud of their apples.  Eva had soaked her shirt while drinking from the faucet and she had quickly demanded I take it off.

My parents came and did some serious picking and used the apples to make 36 quarts of apple sauce!  Even after all that there were apples to spare.  Hooray for a good apple year.  We will be enjoying the apple sauce all year long (thankfully my mom shares).
