Swim Lessons

I signed Ally up for swim lessons back in May but her session didn't start until the last week of June.  I wasn't going to tell her about the lessons until a week before, but it ended up that I had to take her with me when I signed her up.  I told her as we were leaving the house to avoid a meltdown in the office, and she had a huge meltdown.
Ally doesn't like change, at all.  It takes her quite a while to process something new and she will eventually warm up to the idea.  I knew she would love swim lessons but I also knew she would take some convincing.  She likes to know all the details, like where the lessons are, exactly what she will be doing and who will be there.  I answered as many questions as I could and I tried to reassure her.  I reminded her how nervous she was about T Ball at first but how she loved it.

When it was finally time for our session of swim lessons she was excited and ready to go.  She loved wearing her goggles and practicing holding her breath underwater.

I think Ally should have been in the next level up, but by the time I realized it the session was almost over.  It didn't help that the other girl in her class seemed really scared of the water and the teacher had to spend most of the time with her.  Still Ally gained a lot of confidence in the water and improved on her swimming skills so it wasn't a waste.

I really Eva got the most out of swimming lessons.  We spent Ally's lessons watching from the baby pool.  Each day Eva would start out cautious, slowly warming up to the water and playing.

By the last few lessons Eva was full on swimming all around the baby pool.

The weather was so crazy, the first week it really hot, over 100*, while the last two days of swim lessons were rainy and cold.  The last day was particularly chilly (I had a sweatshirt on!) but that didn't stop either Eva or Ally from getting in the water.

On the last day she got to jump off the diving board.  It was fun to watch her confidently march right up and jump off.  She had lots of practice jumping off the diving board and Aunt Kathryn's it wasn't scary to her at all, she didn't even worry that she didn't have her floaties on.
It was a fun two weeks.  I really appreciated my mom coming and helping with the kids and giving me someone to visit with.  Ally loved her swim lessons and is already talking about next years lessons.

The baby pool was always so cold, so I hated having to wade in there! Yay for Ally!
