We loved T-ball! I am so sad the season is over, we all had a great time.
When I first brought up T-ball to Ally I was surprised how hesitant she was. She loves playing sports and especially loved having me pitch to her so she could hit. After much discussion and a little persuasion she agreed to try T-ball. After one practice she was hooked.
She is our sporty girl, it took weeks of dance classes before she started liking dance, where T-ball only took one practice.
The uniforms were absolutely adorable, pretty sure T-ballers don't need the whole getup but they look pretty cute. Now I know why Little League is so expensive!
Ally had an amazing coach. He was so patient with the kids and taught them a lot about the basics of baseball, and most importantly helped them have fun. I have great respect for anyone who coaches 4 and 5 year olds in any sport, you need endless patience.
Ally was the only girl on her team, at first I was sad about that. Then I realized Ally didn't care, in fact I think she preferred not having any girls on her team. She likes to be one of the boys, she is a tomboy for sure.
I loved watching her games (I didn't love rushing to make her 8am games though). Her games were 2 innings or 1 hour, whichever came first (thought a few times they did play to 3 innings). It was so much fun watching the kids start to learn how to play baseball. I wish we could keep the attitude of T-ball as the kids get older. Parents and coaches on both teams were so happy when anyone had a good hit or made a good play, I loved the positive atmosphere and pure love of the game.
I was worried it would be hard to keep Eva entertained and out of trouble during Ally's games. I shouldn't have worried, Eva absolutely loved going to Ally's "a-ball" games. She loved cheering for Ally, eating snacks, playing on the playground and seeing Grandma and Papa.
Ally was a great base runner, always hustling. The last few games she requested to bat last. In T-ball the last batter gets to run all the way around (as long as they aren't tagged out) instead of just taking one base.
Batting was Ally's favorite, and who can blame her. Sometimes things get a little slow when you are out on the field. Ally got pretty good at hitting, usually hitting off the pitch in at least one of her at bats.
We didn't know anyone on Ally's team before the season, but that didn't phase Ally at all. She just got right in and made friend and had fun with the boys.
We are all sad the season is over, and we can't wait until next year. I am glad my girls love baseball as much as I do.
