Saturday was a very busy day with soccer starting back up and a bike give away for the kids. One of my friends put the kids on a list to receive new bikes. An amazing woman wanted to help kids replace bikes they lost in the fire. She has organized two bike giveaways with a third one in the works.
The bike giveaway was so organized! They had a list of names and when your name was read the kids got to pick out a bike. The bikes were organized by size. Once the girls decided on a bike (Colton got a strider bike too!) they headed over to the helmet area, where they got to pick out a new helmet. After the helmet station there was a photographer taking pictures of kids with their new bikes.
At the final station a guy was ready and waiting with tools to adjust seats and handle bars an needed. It was really an amazing event. Ally and Eva were thrilled with their new bikes.
Steve and I missed the first part of the bike giveaway because we were in the High School gym. Zappos had set up a whole store in the gym with shoes and clothes. It was another amazingly organized event. Once it was our turn we were given a personal shopper to help us find what we needed. After we finished "shopping" they were handing out pizza for lunch. Everyone was so kind and helpful.
Eva made it in the paper! It helps to be the granddaughter of a County Supervisor. Online article here
A few days before we received these adorable bears. A woman makes these bears for children of fallen police officers. She heard about our family and made bears for the kids.
