One week at story time one of the moms was talking about entering a float in the Middletown Days Parade. At first I thought she was saying that she wanted the story readers to put together a float, I was hesitant to agree because I couldn't take on that big of a project right now. Thankfully she was just wondering if I would participate, she did all the hard work! I was more than happy to help, it is nice to not always be in charge.
Ally and her friend Cody waiting for the parade to start.
Eva was a little unsure about the float, and she seemed a little nervous while we were waiting, soon she warmed up and had fun. I love her outfit. She decided to wear the boots all on her own (I had forgotten all about them) and she looked adorable.
James took these great shots of us in the parade.
I lead the kids (and parents) in some of our favorite story time songs, the kids were so cute waving and singing to everyone.

Even serious girl Ally gave out a few waves.
The only drawback to being in the parade is that you don't get to watch the parade. I was a little sad to miss watching the parade but I was glad the girls got a chance to be in the parade and we got to promote our beloved story time!
After the parade the kids were getting a little restless with all the adults visiting so Uncle James bought them popsicles. At the same time some people came by offering free cookies, lucky kids!
We found out later that day our float won first place in the Youth Group division! So exciting, I am so glad the mom had the idea, and put in all the hard work, to have a float in the parade.
