Steve and were able to sneak in a little getaway to the city. Steve's parents came over to stay with the kids, and completely spoil them. We headed out after watching Ally's soccer game, it was nice to travel without any kids.
Know that a Saturday in August the city would be pretty crowded we attempted to avoid the tourist crowds. Our first stop in the city was the Sutro Baths where we discovered that we weren't alone in our plans. Parking was a nightmare, per usual for San Fransico, but we finally found parking. I didn't know much about the Sutro Baths and it was really interesting to read about its history and see the ruins.
We took the Lands End Trail from the Sutro Baths and walked along the shoreline enjoying the coastal breeze and the amazing views.
Steve and I laughed that we come to the city to take a hike, not your typical San Francisco day but it was fun. The trail was pretty crowded, it was fun people watching and hearing many different languages.
It was different when we reached the end of the trail and popped out by a golf course and some a very fancy neighborhood. Not our typical hike but it was fun.
Next stop AT&T Park for a Giants game (and the main reason for our visit to the city). Thanks to some insider information from Marshall we found free street parking and walked a few blocks to the park. We got to the game early to enjoy our time at the ball park, we even caught the tail end of batting practice!
Look at our amazing seats! Wes shared his Giants tickets with us since it is hard to make the games from Miami. It was so fun having such great seats, it will be hard going back to upper deck seating.
Sadly the Giants didn't pull out a win for us but it was still a good game and a great day at the ball park.
It was fun to get away for a little while and just be together the two of us. When we got home the kids had had a blast with Nana and Papa. Now if only the stars will align and we can make this happen more than once or twice a year.
