Picnic at the creek

Monday we decided to take advantage of a day off from school, and Steve having the day off from work, and have a picnic.  The weather was perfect, a beautiful sunny day just right for a picnic.  My parents joined us for our picnic down by the creek.

I was smart enough to pack extra clothes for the girls knowing that the chances of them staying dry were slim.  I am glad I did, they were playing in the water almost immediately! Even though it was a warm day the water was cold, but they didn't seem to mind.

It is so nice to have water in the creek!  The December rains brought the creek back (it had completely dried up).  Much to Steve's delight there were lots of fish in the creek.  We even got to see a few of them jumping out of the water.

As we were driving through the ranch to Grandma's house Ally told me "Isn't it beautiful here?  I wish I could live here."  I wholeheartedly agree it is a beautiful place.  I can't put into words how much I love the ranch and the peace and joy it brings me every time I visit.  I just feel blessed to be able to enjoy it and share it with my own family.

I love our mild California winters!  Beautiful green grass and bright blue skies.

It was a great afternoon enjoying the warm sunshine.  Eva and Ally collected a bunch of pretty rocks and brought them back to Grandma's house just like I used to do.  The girls wore themselves out playing and exploring, only stopping to eat a little lunch.  Eva was a trooper navigating the river rocks and walking the entire way to and from Grandma's house.

Colton enjoyed being outside and having some Grandpa time.  I realized that I need to be more prepared with my fair children, time to invest in some cute hats for my fair skinned boy.

Ally brought down the Uncle Marshall's Mud Munner truck to haul rocks and sand.
