Fort Bragg Weekend

Last weekend Ally and I joined my parents on a quick camping trip to the coast.  My dad had a speaking assignment in Fort Bragg on Sunday and we decided to make a weekend of it. We headed to the coast Friday afternoon, I was so glad to head to cooler weather.  Steve has been missing out on all our fun, he has been working very hard and we have barely seen him this month.  He is one hard working firefighter.

Saturday morning we enjoyed a leisurely morning before heading out to do some geocaching.

Our first stop was the Caspar Cemetery, which turned out was just around the corner from our campsite.  This cemetery was started in 1850 and is hidden behind a locked gate.  It was a beautiful spot we enjoyed looking at all the headstones, many from the mid to late 1800's.  We also found the cache, it would be our only find for the day.

Ally getting a ride from Papa when the trail got a little rough on our next cache.  We were not able to find this one, I think we approached it from the wrong side, but we enjoyed our walk.

Traipsing along the Caspar Headlands, we found some delicious blackberries along the trail.  Allyson loved our "hike" but was a stinker and wouldn't hold hands by the cliffs.

Grandma buried Allyson in the sand.
After our geocaching fun we headed down to the beach.  Allyson had a blast, she didn't seem to mind the fog and cold at all.

Little miss sporty playing football.

Ally spent most of her time on this little bridge between my parents site and our site.  She loved throwing rocks into the creek and running back and forth across the bridge.  She loved it even more when Papa helped her make the bridge bounce (not sure how sturdy that bridge was!).

Warming ourselves by the campfire.

Sunday we went to Church in Fort Bragg where we ran into The Browns, who had just moved to Fort Bragg from Chico.  It was so fun to see them!

After Church the fog had all burned off so we headed straight for the beach.
Allyson loved playing in the water and kept pushing her boundaries.  Luckily this beach is perfect for kids, it is more like a cove with very small waves.

Fun in the sand.  It was very important to Allyson that pink bunny (on top of one of the towers) came to the beach and went in the ocean.  He got to come and he even went for a dip in the water.

She never sat down once either day we were at the beach, she was in heaven.

She would race down to the wet sand and try to get as close to the water as she could without getting wet.

She wasn't always fast enough to escape the waves.

It was a really fun weekend.  I had to leave Sunday night but Allyson and my parents stayed an extra day, where they explored the lighthouse and saw sea lions.
