Spills

There are no pictures to go with this post, and you should be thanking me for that!

Sunday was our Stake Conference and we prepared everything to make the trek over to Ukiah.  We headed out early Sunday morning loaded down with snacks and toys in hopes that Allyson would be occupied for the hour and a half drive (each way) and the two hour meeting.  Since we left early Allyson didn't get to eat a proper breakfast.  Being the multitasking mom that I am I figured I would feed her yogurt and apples on the drive.  As we were almost to Lakeport Allyson started complaining that something was poking her stomach.  I tried adjusting her straps as best I could but I couldn't figure out what was wrong.  She seemed fine and asked for some juice.  Later she complained that something hurt in her mouth, I thought she might have gotten some apple stuck between her teeth.  I tried to check but couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.

After we passed Blue Lakes Allyson started to fuss a little and when I looked at her I knew she wasn't feeling well.  I told Steve he needed to pull over now, of course there wasn't anywhere to pull over.  Then Allyson puked.  She was so sad, crying because it felt funny and crying because she "spilled" and everything was dirty.  I was so glad I hadn't put her in her dress yet, I was afraid the cotton dress would get so wrinkled in her car seat so she was in her sweats.  Steve and I went through the all too familiar process of taking her car seat apart and attemping to clean it up.  Unfortunately this time we were miles from any gas station so we had to make do with baby wipes and a bottle of water.  The Tipton's saw us on the side of the road and stopped to make sure we were ok.  I really appreciated that, even though they couldn't really help it was nice to know someone was checking on us.

We managed to get everything bagged up (so glad we had some trash bags...which reminds me we need to replace them) cleaned as much as possible and continued on our way.  Allyson was feeling much better and was happy as could be.   We finished the drive with windows down to help with the smell.  Thank goodness it was a beautiful day!  Looks like our poor girl gets a bit carsick on the winding roads around here.  Note to self, don't feed Ally while driving on crazy mountain roads.

Later as we were driving home I was talking to Ally about our day and asking if she had fun.  She said she had, except she when she 'spilled' (which she pronounces as 'pilled' making it even cuter).  I think it is so cute she calls throwing up spilling.  She also gets very concerned with itemizing what is clean and what is dirty, and who cleaned something that used to be dirty.  Thank goodness she didn't 'spill' on her dress, it looks like I need to be packing an extra set of clothes for her more often.  I hope she will get over her car sickness soon, there are lots of winding roads that are unavoidable if we want to go anywhere!
