Our orchard is old, or in more polite terms, established. This works out well for us because we really don't have to do put forth any effort and our trees still produce! I know they would do even better with some attentions but at this stage in life I am happy with whatever it produces.
This year our pear trees were loaded! I have been curious about what kind of pears we have (the downside of an established orchard is the specific variety of trees can be a bit of a puzzle). After a little research I think we have Anjou Pears, both a red and green Anjou tree.
Ally kept asking me when we were going out to the orchard to pick pears and truthfully I needed the reminder. I love that she was excited to head out into the orchard, she loved picking the pears.
Colton got to ride in the wagon for the first time, he loved it. He had the biggest grin as I pulled him along.
I think he was just happy to be included on our little adventure, it didn't hurt that the adventure included a little food.
It was a beautiful evening,I couldn't get over how cute Colton looked and the gorgeous golden sunlight.
Ally was in heaven climbing all around the pear tree. She is always wanting to climb trees and she loved seeing which pears she could reach. She would get mad at me if I picked a pear that was within her reach.
We quickly filled our box and hardly made a dent in the tree. Bath time was calling and we called it a night grateful for what we were able to pick.
Just a little proof that Eva and I were part of the pear picking too. Eva cracked me up by running back into the house to grab an extra piece of pizza in the middle of our picking.
