The Meadow

James and his family came down for a quick visit during their spring break.  There was a lot of tricky planning but we were so happy we got to see them.  While James and Luwanna were on the road to San Diego we headed out to the meadow for some fun.

Spring in Lake County is beautiful, the flowers are gorgeous though short lived.

Allyson loved exploring along the stream.

Eva was not so sure about getting her feet wet, but she had fun just the same.

We usually don't make it out to the meadow this early in the year (usually the road is too muddy).  Thanks to our particularly dry year we were able to see the Chamise Lilly it is fully glory.

Larkspur

We enjoyed a little picnic on the grass and soaked up the sun.

Colton, looking adorable as usual.  I gave myself some mom points for finally remembering a hat for my fair skinned boy.

Ally hiked up to the top of this hill twice.  The first time she hiked it with Steve, the second time she did it by herself.  She was halfway up the hill before we noticed she was following Jimmy.  She has no fear at all.  She was so proud of herself.  I was glad that Tiara and Jimmy helped her through the slippery rocky part (she was wearing flip flops!).

Of course Eva wanted to join in on the hiking.  Papa tried to distract her with a walk along the stream.  She eventually persuaded him to take her up the hill as well.

I love how she can talk Grandpa into anything.

Even the bone yard looks beautiful in the spring.

Enjoying the springtime beauty of the ranch makes my heart happy.  It is so relaxing and rejuvenating to take in the sights a smells of spring.
