Easter 2011

We had a wonderfully full Easter Weekend.  The festivities started off on Friday evening.  My parents came over for dinner and to color eggs.  We failed to document the egg dying but I promise it happened.  That was also the night Allyson really started coloring with crayons.  I gave her paper and crayons in her high chair hoping to keep her occupied, it definitely worked. She loved it, and really got into it.  I hope it will continue to satisfy her after she was exposed to the fun of coloring on an iPad.

Steve's parents and brother Brandon came over on Saturday to join in the fun.  We got to catch up on visiting and Allyson had so much fun playing with them.  We decided to have an egg hunt on Saturday at our house just for fun.  Allyson wasn't quite sure what she was supposed to do (and she was rather rough with the real eggs some were damaged in the finding) but she started to catch on.

She soon discovered that some of the plastic eggs had her favorite Jelly Beans in them.

I think she started to like the egg hunt even more at this point.

Pepper, one of our cats, even got in on the fun.

I had the honor of holding the basket for her, she couldn't quite keep the eggs in the basket on her own.

Enjoying the spoils of her hunt.

Very concerned about her blue hand.  The dye from one of the real eggs came off on her had and she was not happy about it.  She kept trying to wipe it off on her shirt.

Allyson's Easter Basket.  I made the stuffed peep from a tutorial found here, but it was not as easy as I had hoped (or maybe I am not as skilled as I hoped).  So we ended up with one peep instead of the three or four different colored ones I had planned.  It was getting late, I was getting frustrated but I had to finish at least one, and I did.  It turned out cute but I am not sure it was worth the effort.

We went to church with everyone, it was so nice to be there with so many family members.  My brother, his girlfriend and a bunch of their friends also came up, we were quite a crowd.  This is Allyson's Easter Dress, it is so hard to get her to stand still and look at the camera (especially after 3 hours of church) so action shots will have to do.

Her dress was much longer than she was used to and caused some mobility issues.  While not the most ladylike solution, it worked and I thought it was still pretty cute.

Passing the time waiting for Easter dinner. She loved playing on the piano.

We decided to give the Egg Hunt another try after dinner.  It was a big success.  She did much better at finding the eggs and putting them in the basket herself.  It did help that we only used plastic eggs, they aren't so heavy to carry in the basket.

Believe it or not this is only about half the crowd she had watching her finding the eggs.  We can always count on her to put on a good show.

We had a very happy Easter and were very lucky to be able to share it with so many of our loved ones.
