A bunch of wild pigs have been coming around my parents house. At first they were just digging up areas down by the road and below the house. After a while they started tearing up the lawn. They tried scaring them off but each night they just kept coming back. My mom was even frustrated enough that she wanted them shot (she isn't the biggest fan of hunting).
Steve was more than happy to go get one of the pigs, I was a little less thrilled. Pigs are a lot of work to skin, we didn't have a chest freezer to put it in, and we had a lot to do before we left for Idaho. Since I wasn't the one doing all the work I didn't really have much of a say.
Steve shot this huge boar (one of the lawn vandals). He was so huge he couldn't lift him at all, my dad had to bring the tractor out to lift him.
He was 250lbs field dressed! Pretty massive.
Steve worked late into the night getting it all prepped to take to the butcher to be processed. Unfortnately when he called the guy we usually go to they were full. After scrambling around trying to find someone who had room they called back and said they could take it. Such a relief. Now on to shopping for chest freezers so we have a place to put all the meat!
