On December 9th we got to ride on the Skunk Train's Christmas Train with my parents. My mom had been planning this excursion for a while and I was so excited, I have always wanted to go on the Skunk Train. The weekend before our train ride my mom and Ally read The Polar Express to get ready for our train ride. Ally was so excited when we told her we would be going on a train ride on a Christmas Train.
After I got off work we loaded up and headed to Willits braving some very icy roads. We made it there safely and in plenty of time to catch our train. We picked a day when there weren't many people on the train and I thought it was perfect. Much nicer than being on a packed train.
Eva in her santa hat waiting to board the train.
Both girls loved looking out the windows.
Allyson had a pretty bad cold and she kept a tissue glued to her nose almost the entire time.
Once the train got going Elves brought out Hot Chocolate and cookies for everyone to enjoy. Next, Ally got to write a letter to Santa while we listened to Christmas songs played on the flute and the pan pipe. Finally, Mr. And Mrs. Claus came out and visited with everyone.
It had snowed in Willits over the weekend, and thanks to freezing cold temperatures there was still a lot of snow. The snow helped us get in the Christmas spirit and made the train ride even more magical.
My mom braved the trip after having foot surgery just 3 weeks earlier!
Eva got to meet Santa Claus, and promptly began crying 2 seconds after this picture was taken!
It was a really fun evening, and now I can't wait to go on a full run on the Skunk Train. It was fun to ride in the old train cars and the scenery was beautiful.
