Dance

Allyson started her dance class today!

Allyson is a funny girl, she likes her routine, she likes to know "the plan".  She is a bit shy and always needs time to think through anything that deviates from her normal routine.  Earlier this summer I signed her up for a dance class, she loves dancing around the house and I thought it would be good for her to get to know some other kids.  I slowly prepped her by talking about the dance classes I took as a little girl (including pictures...thanks to Grandma) and reading books about dancing.  Still our Ally was hesitant.
Last Friday we met her teacher, Miss Annette, and got her dance gear.  Allyson was so worried and nervous all day, she kept telling me she didn't want to go.  Her reasons were funny "it is too far and I will miss my home", "I be lonely and miss you mommy".  I tired to put her at ease but in the end there were actual tears involved.  Thankfully she way brave and met her teacher, she was shy but she didn't cry.  Later that evening she told my parents she was "frustrated" because she didn't want to dance.

Today was the big day, the first class.
Here she is in her adorable dance outfit ready for class. I love it.

Allyson was brave and we didn't have any tears today.  She was fine until we got to class, then she got really shy.  I was proud of her for sitting out on the dance floor with the other girls, and by the end of the class she was joining in on the dances.  She earned a lollipop at the store for being so brave.

Working on her stretches in class.  Love the pointed toes!
