December is such a busy month, filled with so many fun things to do, because we love our tradition of cutting our own Christmas Tree in the forest we set aside the day way in advance. We scheduled December 1st to be our Christmas Tree Day about 6 months ago. The problem with scheduling ahead, you have no idea what the weather will be. The weather was crazy last week, tons of rain and wind with no sign of a break until Monday. Since it was our only chance to get our tree (without resorting to a tree lot) we went for it.
Allyson loved jumping in all the "muddy puddles" just like Peppa Pig.
Making good use of her potty chair. I love this potty chair, so nice when there isn't a toilet around.
My parents with their tree.
Everyone was much quicker at finding trees this year, rain and wind will speed things along.
Allyson finding more muddy puddles to play in.
She loved her "brella", except when the wind started to blow her around, that freaked her out a little. I loved seeing the umbrella walking around with just her boots peeking out.
Our tree!
Allyson had escaped to truck to get warm so she missed out on the picture. I know our tree is crooked (we call it character) but I think this picture exaggerates it.
Bob and Linda were so quick I didn't get a picture of them with their tree.
We stopped at the warming hut to get out of the rain and warm up with some hot chocolate. Some people had attempted to start a fire in the warming hut stove but it struggled with the wet wood, mostly just smoking up the place.
After a few snacks we quickly got on the road headed back to Oroville.
We topped off our fun with delicious Chinese food from Charlie's.
Part of our Christmas Tree cutting tradition is buying fresh mandarins, we almost missed out on them this year. Thanks to Linda's persuasiveness and persistence we managed to get our mandarins even though they were closed. They are so amazing, I wish we would have bought more they are almost gone.
While not the most ideal Christmas Tree cutting day, it was still fun. I am glad we continued our tradition, we had cut our trees in 70 degree weather, all sorts of different snow conditions (snowing, icy frozen snow, so much snow we had to resort to lower elevations) and this year rain.
