Heart Check Up!

I was a little surprised when I got a call to set up Ally's cardiology checkup, I couldn't believe it had been 3 years since her last checkup.  I don't think about Ally's heart very often, such a contrast to the months prior to her surgery where it was constantly on my mind.  I am so thankful for modern medicine and skilled doctors and surgeons who have made it possible to "forget" about her heart condition.

Waiting to see Dr. Bose and talk about her progress.
It was quite the flashback to see all the other patients going in and out of the office, seeing lots of little babies having their hearts checks.  I felt for all the parents I saw, most of our appointments were extremely stressful and emotionally draining.  I was happy to be other side (of a very successful) surgery and grateful to have my healthy 6 year old girl with me.

After a quick visit with Dr. Bose the technician came in to see how her heart is functioning, check out the patch, look for scar tissues and look for any strain on the tricuspid valve.  Ally was old enough that she wasn't scared and she got to watch (and listen to) her heart pumping on the monitor.
After the technician had collected everything he needed Dr. Bose came back in and reviewed them all with us.  He was happy to report that everything is looking perfect, her heart is working just as it should and there are no concerns at all.  While I wasn't' expecting anything other than good news I was so happy to hear such a good report.  We said goodbye to Dr. Bose and we'll be back in another three years!

After the appointment was over Ally and I did a little back to school shopping at Target.  I had successfully avoided taking all 3 kids back to school shopping thanks to Amazon, but it was time to get a few more things for Ally.  It was fun to be able to have a little one on one shopping time with her, she surprised me by being quite the shopper.  We found lots of fun clothes (and even a dress!!) that we both agreed on and Ally made sure to pick out fun surprises to bring home to Colton and Eva.  I love that she was thinking about her siblings, such a thoughtful girl.

After our shopping spree I told Ally she could pick the restaurant for dinner, after some deliberation we ended up at Applebees.  We had a fun dinner together laughing and having fun just the two of us.

We watched the most beautiful sunset as we drove home through the Napa Valley, I had to pull over and take a picture.  I am so grateful for all the many blessings I have been given, especially to have a happy and healthy girl who can run and play soccer without a second thought about her body keeping up with her.
