I knew throwing a birthday party for Allyson would be tricky this year. We didn't have the usual hype or fun countdowns, I was otherwise occupied. Before Colton's arrival I had Ally pick our what theme she wanted for her party, and I declared it a family party. She has made lots of new friends in school but I wasn't up for that kind of a party. Ally decided on a Frozen theme, which was pretty easy since most any girl under 10 is having similar parties. I pinned a few ideas and then Colton came and the party planning was put on hold.
We were planning on having the party on the 25th, giving me a couple of weeks to get my act together and make a party happen. Then we decided (with 2 days notice) to switch the party to the 18th, a week earlier so Steve and Bob could be there. It was a crazy idea, but with lots of help from my mom and Steve's mom we made it happen.
We got lucky on the weather, it was a beautiful fall day. Ally in front of the food ready for lunch. She requested chicken nuggets (so easy) and we had BBQ chicken sandwiches for those who wanted something a bit different. To go along with the frozen theme we had blue jello "ice blocks" and "Olaf's noses" (aka carrots) with ranch.
Ally was thrilled her cousins were able to come to the party, they had so much fun playing together.
Throwing jumbo marshmallows into Olaf's mouth (the jumbo marshmallows were much larger than I expected). This kids had fun doing this one over and over. Eva mostly just ate her marshmallows.
The second game was knocking over all the cups with "snowballs". Ally and Cameron were pretty cute playing this one.
The third game was to make a snowman. I had planned for each child to be paired with an adult and the adult would dress up each child like a snowman. Turns out the kids wanted to dress the adults up instead. Brian and Bob were good sports about it and the kids had fun. That was all that mattered!
Little miss almost 5 year old!
She was a little reluctant to wear the birthday headband, but she wore it long enough for a photo op.
Present time. This girl got lots of fun stuff. Many Frozen things as well as this really fun Adventurer dress up kit.
Linda made this adorable Olaf cake. It turned out so much cuter than the Pin I sent her for inspiration. I was originally going to try and make a cake for the party, I have no idea when I thought I would have the time for that. I am so glad Linda did it instead!
The birthday girl was pretty excited about her cake. Olaf is her very favorite character from Frozen.
The party turned out great. It was nice to visit with family and have a laid back party. Allyson still had lots of fun and the kids thoroughly wore themselves out playing. I am glad our last minute party turned out so well and we all had a fun day.

What a fun party! Looks like it all turned out perfect. Olaf is our favorite too. And the monster :)
