Saturday was the much anticipated Opening Day of Deer Season. Marshall and James came up to the Ranch to go hunting with my dad (Steve had to work). While the boys were out hunting the girls wanted to do something fun. Since it was supposed to be hot we chose to head to the coast to escape the heat and have some fun.
We were a little worried we wouldn't escape the heat when we stopped in Sebastopol and it was still hot. We were pleasantly surprised to see the cool fog along the coast line. We happily put on our sweatshirts and headed out to the beach.
Allyson had a few rough encounters with the sand, which she handled really well. She didn't get upset at all. Very different from a year ago when she couldn't stand to have her bare feet in the sand.
Most of the drive to the beach Allyson was telling me "you put your toes in the water, I not". She had some strange fear of getting her feet wet. After playing on the beach a bit Beth and Tiara took her down to the water.
She loved putting her toes (and most of her lower body) in the freezing cold Pacific.
She loved it so much she didn't want to leave the water, thankfully we were able to distract her with playing in the sand otherwise our feet would've gone numb before she was done.
Allyson and Tiara looking for "treasures" (Allyson's sand toys buried in the sand). These two had a lot of fun together. Tiara was a good sport about Allyson's tendency to throw sand as she was shoveling.
Tiara and Allyson flying the kite. Allyson told Tiara it was like dancing to hold the kite strings.
Beth helping the kite get off the ground.
After a while we got pretty cold, hard to imagine when we knew it was so hot at home. We headed off to visit a few gift shops so Tiara could spend her money from James.
It was a very fun (and cool) day at the beach.
