Saturday my mom took the girls and I to the Lake County Fair. Ally has been talking about going to the fair for a while. Whenever we go to Lakeport she asks "is this where the fair is", and I explain it is but the fair only comes once a year.
We headed up to the livestock barns to check out the animals first. We got there just as they were preparing to start the auction, so it was a little crazy. I was so impressed with the 4-H kids, they were very outgoing showing Ally their animals and trying to get us to purchase their animals. Ally got to pet a turkey, sheep, goat, and pig. We weren't sure we wanted to go into the pig section (it was crowded) but Ally saw the pigs and said "oh pigs! my favorite animal!). So we headed checked out some of the pigs. I can't believe I didn't take a single picture in the livestock barn.
This year there was a really fun area set up with lots of games and activities for kids. I loved it. Ally got to run around and play.
Ally's favorite were these giant blocks, she played with them for a long time.
Next up we had to stop by the CalFire booth to say hi. They had this HUGE inflatable Smokey, pretty impressive. We saw some of Steve's friends from his old station and Ally got some free things.
We couldn't resist a photo op by daddy's old engine. Eva was less than thrilled. Ally was a little disappointed she couldn't get inside and explore like she can when she is with daddy.
After lunch we headed over to the kids ride area. We passed by this fishing carnival game, while I usually despise carnival games I gave in and let Ally play. They had me at "guaranteed prizes", it was true Ally won a frog for herself and a small stuffed lizard for Eva, she was so nice to share.
Ally was lucky that Grandma bought her tickets to go on some of the rides. After the fishing the teacups were her first choice. She did a great job of spinning her teacup, it was so cute watching her have fun.
It was nice that the fair wasn't too crowded during the day. No lines to wait in, but we were in the hot sun, I guess that was the trade off.
The motorcycle ride was her very favorite.
Ally wanted to ride in the same boat as this girl, and the girl was nice enough to let her. They had fun together and even ended up on another ride together.
I felt bad that Eva was to young to go on any rides, next year she might be old enough to enjoy the rides. After we used all our tickets on the rides we called it a day. It was hot! We grabbed some drinks and ice cream on the way home to help us cool off. Another fun trip to the fair!
